DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable forest from Kigali Rwanda

Your 3 days gorilla trekking safari begins with a pick up from your Kigali hotel by our driver/guide and drive to Bwindi. You drive through one of the most scenic routes in East Africa which is only about 4 hours to the southern side of Uganda. Cross the border to Uganda which takes about 30-45 minutes, hit the road again to Rushaga or Nkuringo in the southern section of Bwindi to your lodge.

Depending on your arrival time, you may choose to relax off the afternoon and prepare for your next day gorilla trek or add on an afternoon activity such as canoeing, birding, visiting a village on foot and doing the Batwa forest walk. The choice is yours to make.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking day in Bwindi Impenetrable forest

Wake up early morning, have breakfast, get your hiking gear ready, have packed lunch with you and then head to the park headquarters for orientations about the gorilla trekking highlight. Here you will be told the does and don’ts about gorilla trekking, given a gorilla family to trek and allocated into groups of 8 trekkers. You then start your trek into the forest with an experienced guide and UWA ranger with you. The trek may take about 30mins to almost a day depending on where the gorillas last slept. On finding a gorilla family, this is the magical moment, your allowed a full hour interaction with your gorilla family and after head back from the trek.

Our driver will be ready to take you back to your lodge for relaxation.

Day 3: Transfer back to Kigali

This is the end of your unforgettable gorilla trekking safari in Bwindi impenetrable forest, cross the border back to Kigali where you will have your flight back home. But since you have some quality time, you can opt to do golden monkey trekking in Mgahinga national park, the park has over 1000 golden monkeys and allows you to trek a habituated group of over 100 members. This can be done before you cross the border back to Kigali or choose to continue northwards in Uganda for chimpanzee tracking in Kibale forest or a wildlife safari in Queen Elizabeth national park.
